Veterans Services
The Bridge is committed to providing assistance and support to men and women who have served in the United States military, regardless of the length of their service or their discharge type.
Several Bridge housing programs offer placement priority to eligible veterans, and in recent years we have opened two new buildings specifically designated to give preference to veterans.
Facilities
Bridge Gardens, opened in 2014 in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, provides permanent supportive housing to 17 men and women. This June 2018, Melrose Commons in the South Bronx opened its doors to 58 people. Both residences were developed specifically to give priority to veterans.
Tenants live in studio apartments with access to a backyard area, a multipurpose community room, kitchen and laundry. A variety of on-site services and activities help clients live independently, manage their health, and build relationships with their peers.
