We have learned through our Urban Farm project that organic vegetable and herb farming results in eating fresher, tastier, environmentally friendlier, healthier foods while at the same time saving money. It is one of the most powerful ways of connecting with, and developing a love for, the natural world - an experience that has largely been lost to some of us who live in urban settings. Further, local farms decrease our greenhouse gas emissions by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and reducing the need for shipping produce.
By sharing this curriculum guide below, we hope it will inspire and provide the essential teaching tool that will encourage others to create their own urban farms.
